Rise was inspired by Brancusi’s Endless Column. I was looking for a way of working with marble that gave me the same sense of articulation which I achieve in my tall steel pillars. I had to make it a lot shorter than ‘endless’ though. I exhibited it in the exhibition ‘Two in One’ at Gallery Pangolin London in 2012.
