Darren Baker from Warwickshire has created a portrait of Prince Charles, as a surprise gift for his 70th birthday.
Darren Baker from Coventry has spent 10 months creating the artwork, using pastels, charcoal and pencil.
The portrait was specially commissioned by the Princes Trust, which The Prince of Wales set up more than 40 years ago to help improve the lives of young people.
The concept of the piece was to include 900,000 separate pencil marks to represent how many young people the prince has supported.
It is the 2nd time the artist has created a portrait of Prince Charles, having done an oil painting 20 years ago which hangs in St James’s Palace.
He has also painted a portrait of the Queen.
From starting painting and drawing at five [years old] and then going to art college and now meeting and painting royalty, it’s an absolute dream.
